Pastrami at David's Brisket House

One of the great things about going to Bed-Stuy for pastrami is the price. David's Brisket House serves one of the best pastrami sandwiches around and it only costs $7.62 (small). The store has been open long enough to be an institution (it opened in the 70s), but unlike many of the city's shops of that nature, you can actually eat at David's and get change back when you pay with a twenty.

The sandwich, and all others, also comes in regular ($10.88, pictured) and large ($14.50) sizes, but the small is big enough to satiate any appetite. The meat has a perfect amount of salt and fat. It's incredibly tender after it steams for five hours and, once stacked onto fresh rye bread slathered with tangy, generic yellow mustard, makes for a lunch we'd seek out if it were buried anywhere in Brooklyn or the rest of the boroughs.
