After years on the road selling Gianelli sausage from the back of a 55-gallon drum hitched to his motorcyle, John Stage opened the first Dinosaur Barbecue in Syracuse, New York. That happened in 1988. Ten years later Rochester, NY got a Dinosaur. Then in 2004 Stage brought his 'cue to Harlem. Troy, NY got a taste of Wango Tango in 2010, and work is underway on a Newark, NJ location.
Now it's Brooklyn's turn. A sign taped to the former Perfect mechanic shop at 604 Union Street (btwn 3rd and 4th Aves) reveals Stage is applying for a liquor license. A community board meeting is to be held tonight at 65 6th Ave. Let’s hope the Dino reps get themselves a liquor license so we can get this ball of prehistoric barbecue rolling.
